Hello!

So where does the name come from? Simple – My name is Richard and I have an independent way of thinking! Ooh, that sounds like the introduction to an AA course doesn’t it? I suppose that I’m part of “Independents Anonymous”! Except with this site, I suppose I’m no longer anonymous – well if anybody actually visits that is!

The site started around May 2010 with a vague concept of writing about the things I enjoy, amidst the equally abstract concept of my mindset of doing things my own way. As the first year was spent experimenting, you will find posts on things like briefcases that don’t really fit into my broader vision of the site. Nor are many posts from that period written in the first person!

So from this day I can say that this site will follow my main independent passions:

Frugal, simple and sustainable living

My favourite music

Guitars

Independent travel

General independent thinking

Although I’m based in the UK, the site doesn’t have any specific geographic parameters. Inevitably though, some posts may have a bias to particular parts of the world.

Whoever you are, wherever you are from and however you got here, I hope that you gain “something” from what you read!
